There is an almost insurmountable problem in a website that explains the person and work of Carlo Battaglia. Because he in 1974 wrote (in his book PARALLEL IMAGE AND OTHER CONJECTURES):

“I wish that my current paintings be no longer reproduced (except for reasonable exceptions of color reproductions of sufficient size and accuracy, personally overseen by me). This is not only because my paintings are literally unreproducible, but also because I intend to reject the use of a mechanical means that from the subsidiary task of facilitating the memory of an observed and studied work, has passed to the primary task of replacing the work itself, nullifying and corrupting what should always be the task of the person who executed the work and of the person who, looking at it, intends to understand it: direct observation and a long, active contemplation.”

Now, from 1976 to today the quality of digital reproduction has improved a lot, then in full respect of his writing, which still remains of great value, it was inevitable that in order to achieve even just some of the objectives set by the Carlo Battaglia Foundation, we had to accept the idea of showing his works on these pages. That said, you will always be invited to look at them with your own eyes, the only way for them to reach your heart.
